Bobby Bowden

Today i just heard that the coach of FSU is retiring after 34 seasons as the head coach. He has won two national titles and is the second most winningest coach of alll time. I do not know the details on why he is getting fired but i can only guess it is because of his age. He just celebrated his 80th birthday. He is an iconic person at FSU... they even named the stadium after him... I do not think that city will be the sme without there coach.

Energy Drinks

I have alwasy been a big fan of energy drinks. When I was in high school i use to drink one before everyday started. It was almost like breakfast for me. I never really had any bad crashes from them either. But over last summer i got really sick and my doctor told me it was from drinking to much caffine and my body was on overload. So what i am suggesting is that if you drink them or any sodas do it in moderation. The are not good for your body at all and in the long run they will and can harm you. Just as an example if you put a penny into Coke it will dissolve over time. The drinks are full of acid. This is just a warning you do not have to listen to me but just be caustious thats all.

Thanksgiving myths i never knew...

The first Thanksgiving was merely a celebration in thanks for a good harvest and did not become an established tradition among the colonies. Contrary to popular belief, the Pilgrims would not have eaten pumpkin pie at the first thanksgiving. When the Plymouth Pilgrims arrived in the New World, they had only a limited amount of sugar and no ovens with which to bake. Turkey would not have been a main course for the pilgrims; it was more likely that they ate venison yummmy and seafood, such as cod. The food that would have been served at the harvest meal would have consisted more of meat than of vegetables. Which honestly I would have preferred. I hate veggies.

Flounder Fishing

When Nov roles around all I think of is flounder fishing. They have two eyes, but with a twist - both on the same side of its head. The flounder is almost immediately recognizable to most people. Much of the U.S. coastal waters are inhabited by a similar species to our Gulf and Southern flounders. It's sometimes difficult to tell the difference, but both share a similar characteristic - they are fabulous dinner, probably the mildest tasting fish in the sea. Flounders are born looking like most any other fish, including normally positioned eyes. As they develop, however, the right eye begins to shift toward the left. Once out of the adolescent stage, flounders take up their position in life, half buried in the sand, eyes looking upward, waiting for food to pass them by. Their coloration is almost a perfect match for the sandy bottom, and they are nearly invisible. Flounders have a set of choppers, and gobble up shrimp and crustaceans given the chance. Oddly enough, most flounder are caught by accident - that is, peoples are fishing for something else, and a flounder appears on the end of the line. They can be targeted by fishing a live sardine over sand or mud bottom in this way: cast out, then slowley retrieve the bait. When your bait passes over Mr. Flounder's resting spot - snap! They put up a dogged fight, using their flat bodies to provide resistance to your upward pull. They don't get too big around here - a couple, maybe 3-4 pounds, but as I mentioned before, a delicious and mild fish. My favorite spot to fish for Mr. Flounder is on Fort DeSoto.

Campfire

When the first sign of winter rolls through i love nothing better than a good ole camp fire with all my friends... You know that time of year when the air gets crisp and the temperature drops a few degrees. It is just so nice out and you do not want to be inside at all. This is my favorite time of year because we can make campfires. Campfires are so much fun because everyone loves fire. Just making a campfire is a lot of fun. But the best part is when its all made and you can just sit around with friends maybe have a few beers and just relax. There are always good campfire stories and good ole marshmallows. I am a country boy so i love my campfires. I cant wait for the next cold front in a few weeks.

FWC internship

Today i was invited to go do some research on FWC private land. We had to wake up a little bit early but it was well worth it. Its only about 30 mins from campus and its all rock quarry's. But eventually it turns into forest. We get to pick what we want to do research in. I chose to ride the swamp buggy, which sits on huge tractor tires, has a wench and is lifted close to five feet. We did our little research and along the way saw about 25 deer and 12 alligators. All in all a pretty sweet day.

Gator Hunting 09'

A few weeks ago a buddy of mine called me and asked if i wanted to go gator hunting. i have never done this kind of hunting and so i totally wanted to go. We met up at my friends house to pick up the air boat. Ive been on an air boat before and it was the nicest one i have ever seen. We drove out to Clewiston FL, to launch the boat...The time we went out was about 9 p.m. and we knew we wouldn't be back till at least 2a.m We saw a multitude of gators and finally got a shot on a 6 ft male.... we loaded him on board and made sure he was dead. My friend decided not to put the tag in the gators tail... When we returned to the docks fwc was waiting for us. They saw the gator didn't have the tag in its tail and my friend was arrested... this was the best hunting trip I've ever been on.

SW FL Fishing

I have been doing a lot of fishing in this area most of my life. Just about two weeks ago snook season opened up for the fall. The week before that i was on Sanibel Island doing some fishing off the beach. It was amazing to my suprise. The snook are on the beaches. We caught 21 snook in 2 days. About ten of those were deff keeper size. All we had to do is cast net up some white bait and free line them in the surf. The snook would hit every day at low tide without fail. The only thing is i wish it was snook season.....

Shimano vs. Penn

I think shimano reals are kind of expensive but they do last a long time and get the job done well.. Penn realls can be less expensive but are also a good real.. all and alll shimano is the way to go because of there durability.
